Gainesville named worst student housing market in the country... again

During this morning's opening session for the National Apartment Association's Student Housing Conference, the panelists universally agreed that Gainesville, Florida is the most over-saturated student housing market in the country.

Here are the top 4 overbuilt student housing markets:

  1. University of Florida - Gainesville, Florida
  2. Florida State University - Tallahassee, Florida
  3. University of Texas - Austin, Texas
  4. Auburn University - Auburn, Alabama

Others mentioned included: Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia and the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.

The panel included Mike Peter from Campus Advantage, David Aldeman from Campus Apartments, Donna Priess from The Preiss Company, Ted Rollins from Campus Crest Communities, and Maximus Yaney from Campus Habitat.
